1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE (back

- The Bemo USA Bemo-Roof system
will serve as the minimum acceptable quality required, as manufactured
by Bemo USA Inc., 419 E. Juanita Ave., Mesa, AZ 85204-6521. 1-800-926-2366.
- Manufacturer's Qualifications
- The manufacturer shall have had
at least (5) five years experience in architectural and industrial
roofing systems.
- Installer Qualifications
- The installer shall have a minimum
of (5) years experience of installation with structural field-formed
concealed clip roofing systems.
- Manufacturer must train and certify
the installer so as to provide a single source responsibility
for this portion of the work.

professional engineer, to verify that the proposed roofing will
meet the performance requirements of this specification.

design calculations and test reports certified by a registered
professional structural engineer licensed in the State of __________
to verify load - carrying capacities and thermal movement allowance
of the panel system.
- Furnish certified laboratory test reports
showing that the proposed system has been tested and conforms
to applicable provisions specified herein.
- Samples and descriptive date:
- Roof panel: Full panel width,
12 inches long.
- System Clips/Halters: Two
Required.
- Fasteners: Two of each type
to be used with a statement identifying the intended use of
each.
- Closure: One metal and one
neoprene.
- Insulation: 12 inch square
sample of specified thickness.
- Sealants: One sample of
each type and statement identifying the intended use of each.
1.6
WARRANTY (back

- Manufacturer's Warranty: Standard
performance warranty provided by the manufacturer to warrant all
panels, flashings, sealants, fasteners, and accessories against
defective materials and/or workmanship for a period of two (2)
years Manufacturer's standard warranty must accompany submittal
package.

Part 2: Products
2.1
ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURER'S (back
to top)
- The Bemo USA Bemo-Roof Mechanically
Seamed Roofing System as manufactured by: Bemo USA Inc., 419 East
Juanita Ave., Mesa, AZ 85204-6521, 1-800-926-2366.
- Requests to use alternate systems
must be submitted in writing to the project designer at least ten
(10) days prior to the bid date. Performance requirements, certified
statements, samples, sample warranties and descriptive date must
accompany the request for substitution.
- Manufacturers listed in this
section are prequalified manufacturers. Substitution of manufacturers
product for those specified will not be allowed at any time during
the bidding or construction phases of this project.
- Being
listed as a prequalified manufacturer does not release the manufacturer
from providing complete and acceptable performance data as indicated
in this specification.
2.2
PRODUCT PERFORMANCE (back
to top)
- The standing seam roof system
shall be designed to safely resist the positive and negative loads
as required for the location and type of project designed.
- Structural-uniform uplift
load capacity of the panel system shall be determined in accordance
with the principles of ASTM E1592, "Standard Test Method for Structural
Performance of Sheet Metal Roof and Siding Systems by Uniform Static
Air Pressure Difference" as follows:
- The Factor of Safety on the
test results shall be 1.65 for the panel and clip/halter ultimate
loads with no increase for wind.
- The Factor of Safety for fasteners
shall be 3.0 for single fastener in
each connection, 2.25 for 2 or more fasteners in each connection
and 4.0 in masonry.
- Design uplift capacity for condition
of gage, span or loading other than those tested may be determined
by interpolation of test results.
- Deflection shall be I/180 for positive
loading.
- Water penetration of the panel
assembly at 20psf pressure for 15 minutes shall have "no uncontrollable
leakage" when tested in accordance with ASTM E331.
- Air infiltration of panel assembly
at 20psf pressure shall be no more that 0.02 cfm/sf of panel when
tested in accordance with ASTM E283.
- The panel system shall have
a U.L. Class 90 rating.
- The panel system shall have
Factory Mutual approval per research standard 4471 meeting a (minimum)
class 01-90, 0 1-105, 0 1-120, 0 1-180 .
- The panel system shall have "Miami-Dade
County Florida" acceptance: Reference NOA #02-0627.04
- Panels are to be fabricated
full length with absolutely no end lap conditions allowed. The
manufacturing equipment must be owned and operated by the manufacturer
who must also be the installer and take complete responsibility
for the entire workscope.
- Fasten the roofing panels
to the structure through the use of concealed halters/clips which
are designed to allow for all panel movement through a temperature
differential of 180°F without impeding the performance of
the panel.
- Curved panels, concave, convex
or both are to be manufactured in one continuous panel length and
curved without crimping or distorting the standing seam legs of
the roof panels.
2.3
MATERIALS (back
to top)
- Metal Roof panels are to be
Bemo USA Bemo-Roof as manufactured and installed by Bemo USA trained
and Certified contractors or approved equal.
- Fabricate metal panels from a minimum
of 0 .040" thick aluminum, 0 .050" thick aluminum alloy 3004-H-14
clad, or 0 22 gage (.030"), 020 gage (.036") gage G-90 Galvanized
steel conforming to ASTM A653 structural quality Grade 33,
Grade A and ASTM A792, Grade 50B with an AZ50 coating when
coil coated or AZ55 when used bare. Plain Mill Finish or stucco
embossed.
- Panels shall be a maximum of 0 12" wide
(305mm), or 0 16" wide (400mm) with a minimum vertical standing
leg height of 2 ½".
- Concealed Clips
- Fasten standing seam roofing to structure
with specially designed and tested clips/halters manufactured
exclusively for the roofing system.
- Clips/halters must be designed to allow
the roofing materials free movement in either direction parallel
to the standing leg of the panel.
- Finish
- Exterior Surface of Panels: Consisting
of a nominal .2 mil primer and nominal .8 mil 70% polyvinylidene
topcoat. The color shall be selected from Bemo USA's standard
color chart.
- The coating system must
have been tested to and exhibited the minimum characteristics
of the following ASTM test criteria:
- Specular Gloss (ASTM D-523 @ 60
degrees), Standard gloss of 20-30.
- Pencil Hardness (ASTM D-3363),
HB-H
- Flexibility, T-Bend (ASTM D-4145),
No cracking or tape removal of film at 1-T on painted aluminum
and at 2-T on paint steel.
- Adhesion/Reverse Impact, (ASTM
D-3359, D-2794), 1.5 times metal thickness with no loss of
adhesion. No cracking or loss of adhesion.
- Abrasion/Falling Sand, (ASTM
D-968), Liters to expose 5/32" of substrate-50.
- Acid Pollutants, (ASTM D-1308)
10% muriatic acid (15 min) no effect, 20% Sulfuric acid (15
min) no effect.
- Salt Spray Resistance 5% @ 95 degrees
F (ASTM B-117). Passes 3,000 hrs on alum. And 1,000 hrs on
coated steel.
- Humidity Resistance 100% @ 95 degrees
F (ASTM D-2247). Passes 3,000 hrs on alum. And 1,000 hrs
on coated steel.
- Weathering Tests (ASTM D-2244 South
Florida Exposure, D-822 Color Retention, D-659 Chalk Resistance),
Less than 5NBS units change, Passes 5,000 hrs., Rating of
8 min.
- Flashing - All trim materials
to be same gage and finish as specified for the panel system.
- Continuous applied weather seal
to be installed during the manufacturing process of the panel system.
2.4
SNOW RETENTION SYSTEM (back

- Acceptable Product: Bemo Xtreme
Snow retention system as supplied by the Standing Seam Metal Roof
System manufacturer, BEMO-USA, Mesa, AZ.
- The snow retention system will not
be allowed to penetrate the standing seam metal roofing system.
All attachments to the roof will be made to the standing seam
and not hinder the thermal movement of the roof panels.
- All components to be aluminum or stainless
steel.
- Substitutions:
- Substitutions must fully comply with
specified requirements
- Refer to Specification Section ________
- Product Options and Substitutions for substitution request
procedures.
- Components
- Standing seam roof panel seam clamp.
- Seam Clamp: Aluminum.
- Snow Pipe, 1 3/8" dia.

- Performance
- The Snow Retention System will perform
to the following:
- The ultimate connection
load of the seam clamp shall be min. 2,300 LBS. parallel (longitudinal)
to the standing seam roof system.
2.5
FALL ARREST/RESTRAINT SYSTEM (back

- Acceptable Product: Bemo Xtreme
- Uniline Safety Systems as supplied by the Standing Seam Metal
Roof System manufacturer, BEMO-USA, Mesa, AZ.
- The fall arrest/restraint system will
not be allowed to penetrate the standing seam metal roofing system.
All attachments to the roof will be made to the standing seam
and not hinder the thermal movement of the roof panels.

- The Fall Arrest/Restraint System will
perform to the following:
- The system will withstand
4,136 LBS (18.4 kN) of force parallel (longitudinal) to the
standing seam roof system.
- The system will withstand
3327 LBS (14.8 kN) of force 90° (transverse) to the standing
seam roof system.

Part 3: Execution
3.1
DELIVERY AND STORAGE (back
to top)
- Secure suitable facilities for
storage and protection on site before delivery of materials.
3.2
INSPECTION (back
to top)
- The manufacturer/installer shall
examine the building to verify that the structure is ready for
roofing installation.
- Manufacturer/installer cannot
proceed until all structural supports and/or substrates are satisfactorily
installed in accordance with the drawings, specifications and applicable
industry standards.
3.3
INSTALLATION (back
to top)
- The manufacturer must certify
the installer in order to provide a complete single source weather-tight
package.
- All attachments shall allow
for thermal expansion and contraction of the roofing materials.
- Install all panels in one continuous
unbroken length for any length of 350' or less.
- Panels are to be mechanically
seamed after installation in the field.
3.4
DAMAGED MATERIAL AND CLEANING (back
to top)
- Replace any materials or components
that are damaged beyond repair prior to completion.
- Each area will be wiped down
as it is completed.
